Manager – Tax/Small Business (Maplewood)
Smith, Schafer and Associates, Ltd., a multi-office accounting & consulting firm, is seeking an experienced Tax/Small Business Manager to join our Maplewood, MN team.
Requirements:

BA/BS in Accounting or related field

Active CPA certificate
-
Six to eight years current experience with a public accounting firm

Preferred one to two years experience managing staff and workflow
-
Strong understanding of GAAP
-
Knowledge of accounting, tax, audit and related business trends

Strong technical, analytical and organizational skills with attention to detail

Excellent verbal and written communication skills
-
Proficient in ProSystems Tax and Engagement, QuickBooks, Excel, Word and PowerPoint
Responsibilities:

Provide tax research and consulting services in response to tax return issues and client requests

Review all levels of business and/or individual tax returns and provide effective feedback

Prepare intermediate and advanced level business and/or individual tax returns

Prepare and/or review financial statements

Develop effective working relationships with clients and maintain client communication

Identify tax planning & consulting opportunities

Work in team environment with principals, manager and staff

Proactively communicate with principals on project status and other client concerns

Understand and effectively use current tax and accounting software applications in completion of engagements

Train and orient staff with ability to motivate, develop and direct staff as they work
