Executive Administrative Assistant

Smith Schafer, a multi-office accounting & consulting firm, is seeking a full-time Executive Administrative Assistant to join our Rochester, Minn. team. This position will provide advanced administrative support to a designated executive group in the areas of word processing, data entry, maintaining computer based files, scheduling meetings and assisting with tax return assembly. Selected candidate will also provide backup for reception and office assistant roles.                                                                                     


  • High school diploma or equivalent with three or more years of prior support experience required. Associate degree a plus and may be considered in lieu of experience
  • 45 wpm typing speed
  • MS Outlook and scheduling experience
  • Strong MS Office Suite skills and other specialized software
  • Experience with office machines including but not limited to: facsimile, high speed copier/printer/scanner and multi-line phone
  • Detail-oriented with ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment

Senior Tax Manager

Smith, Schafer and Associates, Ltd., a multi-office accounting and consulting firm, is seeking a Senior Tax Manager to join our Edina, Minn. team.


  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Masters of Accountancy preferred
  • 8+ years current experience with a public accounting firm working with business and individual clients
  • Solid understanding of S-corp, partnership and individual tax
  • Experience with compilation and reviews
  • Experience in managing engagements and workflow
  • 3+ years of supervisory experience
  • Demonstrated ability to convert opportunities for additional service and new business into engagements for the firm
  • Strong technical, analytical and organizational skills with attention to detail
  • Excellent leadership, organizational, interpersonal and communication skills
  • Proficient in ProSystems Tax and Engagement


  • Provide tax research and consulting services in response to complex tax return issues and client requests
